Youth Development

The Freedom Foundation believes that the future of Selma lies in the hands of its young people. The Foundation believes that the key to a bright future is to invest in the young people of the city, and to help develop their skills and self confidence so they will participate in building the community. With a focus on service-learning and teambuilding, the Foundation hopes to develop young people into responsible and respectful members of the community.

The Freedom Foundation hopes their plans for a diverse offering of youth programs will instill a sense of unity and commitment to the community, as well as give youth an expanded vision of possibilities in their individual lives.

Random Acts of Theatre Company  (CLICK TO GO TO SITE)

The Random Acts of Theatre Company aims to provide an opportunity for the citizens of Selma (specifically youth) to work together in a cohesive team environment, to produce professional quality shows. The city is full of talented individuals who lack an outlet for their creativity. Youth from underprivileged families are often not exposed to cultural arts programs that help expand their minds and give them a vision for the possibilities in their own lives. The Foundation will place an equal emphasis on leadership development, personal growth and volunteerism to help grow civic-minded community members. These culturally-enriching productions are designed to be inclusive, and to help revitalize the heart of the city with uplifting and positive events for people to attend.

Random Acts of Theatre Co. also provides a variety of opportunities for skill development. Young people are given chances to sing, dance, act, help design and build sets, market the performances, sell tickets, and work on the costumes and makeup.

Random Acts of Theatre is committed to producing four live productions per year.
