The most fulfilling part of my job as a television anchor and reporter is to tell the stories of everyday people who do extraordinary things for others, everyday. Especially in the news industry, we hear so much about the negative events in our communities and the world but there are also so many good things happening everyday.

That is why it is special for me to share the story of the remarkable group of people who are the volunteers of the Freedom Foundation. They are the heart of the Foundation.

They are nurses and teachers, businessmen and women. They are accountants, scientists, and waitresses. They are moms and dads and grandparents. They are people of diverse backgrounds, of all ages and vastly different experiences who are bonded by one common desire.

They want to make a difference.

These volunteers want to give back. They want to commit their lives so others have a chance for a better life. They recognize that along their journey in life, someone made an investment in them, and they want to do the same for someone else.

It is a privilege to be a part of a Foundation with so much heart. It is very different to see a group of volunteers give so selflessly. It is so different that some people assume there must be a 'catch', or more to the story. There isn't.

This is simply a story of a group of ordinary people hoping to make the world more extraordinary for others.

It is a story I invite you to be a part of too.
