Hundreds of hours of volunteer work have gone into the demolition and early restoration stages of the Tepper’s Building. Forty people split into four teams, working for free on weeknights and weekends after their regular jobs. They didn’t fear getting dirty, as they performed anything from digging up termite-damaged basement wood, to zipping themselves into white protective suits and jack-hammering the walls to remove plaster. The volunteers showed dedication and stamina beyond their call of duty, and labored over 1,000 hours in the demolition project alone. Their hearts illustrate the vision for Tepper’s, and they are part of what make its restoration so unique.

Tepper's Restoration Fun Facts

• Over 1,000 hours of volunteer work have gone into removing over 600 cubic feet of debris, with more to come
• 1,000+ hours of project management, and 2,500 hours of volunteer architecture work have been donated to the building restoration process
• Favorite Items Found: old typewriters, giant Pepsicola sign, vintage women's dresses, old newspapers, giant porcelain elephant
