[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE] Random Acts of Theatre Company, a new theatre company in Selma, is pleased to announce the opening of “Footloose: The Musical” which will run at the Striplin Performing Arts Center April 24, 25, 27. The 50 member cast is made up of community members of all ages, backgrounds and experience. “I am extremely excited about Random Acts of Theatre’s debut production of “Footloose”. The cast is made up of extremely talented people, and it is great to see them have this outlet to use their talents,” said Amanda Farnsworth, Random Acts of Theatre founder and “Footloose” Director. “Between the music and dance numbers, "Footloose" is an entertaining musical for the audience,” said Ms. Farnsworth. “I have done a lot of professional theatre, and this has been my most enjoyable experience ever. I have seen the cast – from such diverse backgrounds – come together and have a synergy and energy like I haven’t experienced before. That is what has been most rewarding.” Enjoy a night on the town! The St. James Hotel has partnered with Random Acts of Theatre to offer a dinner/theater package. The elegant four course dinner/theater package is $40.00 for one person and $70.00 for two people. Please call the reservation line at 334.413.0942 to reserve a table for dinner and show tickets. Dinner reservations can be made for two hours prior to the show or one hour after the show. Deadline for the package reservations are Monday April 21st at 5:00pm. "Footloose" is a classic tale of a city teenager (Ren) and his family moving to a small town, where he’s in for a real culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can’t quite believe he’s living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. Ren and his classmates want to do away with this ordinance, but only Ren has the courage to initiate a fight to abolish the ban and revitalize the spirit of the townspeople. This fast-paced drama is filled with now-famous hit songs such as “Let’s Hear It for the Boys” and includes exciting dance numbers.
